Our breeding stock have been chosen for their temperament, type, conformation and movement and the emphasis at Tofferton is 'small but quality'. We do not have huge acres of land to 'farm' Dartmoors,consequently, our ponies are well socialised with humans from the beginning and as a British Dressage Judge and Trainer, Julie is aware of the importance of a good education to produce a well mannered pony which is a pleasure to own. Our ponies are handled daily from birth with this aim in mind.

After weaning, the brood mares are turned away at Castlemorton for the winter being brought back for foaling the following spring. Foals are barn kept for their first winter and are rugged and fed to give them a really good start in life. Colts are turned away after the showing/breeding season from August to December to be ponies and have some fun and run as a herd!
